Time - காலம்

Time has always been one of the interesting phenomenon that the curious human always tried to understand. It exists and we live yet, it moves on after we are dead and gone. It is everywhere yet it is invisible. The only tangible factor that determines your life is time - I recall an interesting Saguru video where he mentions how in traditional Tamil culture, those who have died are referred to as 'kalamaanar' which literally means 'out of time'. Also observe how language can carry on knowledge - without essentially lecturing you on the importance of time, those who sculpted the Tamil language framed the word to symbolize the importance of time. When you die, it means that you have run out of time - your time on earth has come to an end. So, yes, time is absolutely crucial and most of us are not aware of that.
Learn to appreciate time and always take things slow. Learn to appreciate the small things in life to live more peacefully yet very happily. You must have heard…

Parallel Universe Hypothesis

So imagine yourself in two different situations as follows. In the first instance, you are a your own perfectly normal self and I hand you over a nice portable bluetooth speaker with extra bass effect. I ask you to hold it by clasping your hands around it firmly. I play a song and all you do is close your eyes and listen to it along with trying to feel the vibrations. Now imagine yourself to be deaf. You really have to use your brains to imagine not to hear the song but just feel it in your hands. It was hard but you would have been able to feel the vibrations better.

The above event happened in my head when I was doing exactly that - listening to "The White Tree" by Howard Shore.

A deaf person who is not capable of hearing anything would only feel the vibrations and have a completely different understanding of a same event that a normal person with ears understands or enjoys. The same information interpreted and understood entirely differently because of lack of a device o…

Privilege

Just because we have the privilege of not being discriminated - not being looked down - not being considered evil, doesn't mean we can ignore those people who have been subjected to all this.

For us - the straight proud people - to understand the miseries of LGBTQ, we have to open our eyes and put ourselves in their shoes. What is it that is still holding us back so much that we fail to address the importance of freedom from oppression.

It is OUR (straight folks - who enjoy the freedom from oppression) responsibility to take this in our hands to ensure not another human being is looked down upon or looked at differently because of the way they carry themselves. How can sexual orientation of a person remotely affect the way we interact with them? It is all in our head - we have been brought up by a society that has taught us to hate or look down upon people who are different from us.

We cannot shrug our shoulders and say it's not our problem. It is a collective problem that ne…
